THE SCOTNORTH TEAM LISA HAMER CO FOUNDER & CHAIR Lisa has 2 ex racehorses, Just classic (Denzel) and The Count (Brian). She also owns Harry, a lovely lusitano cross gifted to her by her Aunt. Lisa acquired Denzel from Peter Montieth after falling head over heels for him (the horse that is !) and they are working towards eventing. Brian is fully retired as he just does not cope with the ''stress'' of being ridden and Harry is waiting to come back into work. Lisa has 2 ex racehorses who are no longer with us Winter Ramble (Rambo) and Davey John (DJ) who both had a major part to play in the setting up of ScotNorth and there are memorial trophies for them both to ensure they are never forgotten.
LYNNE MELVILLE SPONSORSHIP & PR Lynne has 2 ex racehorses Ticklish (Tickle) and Lochanalteen (Lochy). She also has 2 welshies Boo and her son Merlin who are definately more trouble than the 2 thoroughbreds. Tickle is fully retired and Lochy is just coming back into work after needing a year off from a tendon injury. He was in training with Lucinda Russell and she loves the updates from Lynne on her big boy.
MIKE DESOER-FORSTER TREASURER Mike owns an ex racehorse Hawthorn Prince (Hawthorn) and they love nothing more than to go for long hacks together and chat about man things. Mike is very important as he controls the purse strings and, as every horsey lady knows, you really have to put a good case forward for the cheque book to come out (only joking Mike) The photo is the first show they did together, and it was lovely to see hawthorn look after his dad - he is a great advert for ex racehorses and how calm, careful they can be.
LINDA DESOER-FORSTER MERCHANDISE & ASSISTAND TREASURER Linda is Mike's wife and she owns 2 ex racehorses Mare of Wetwang (marylou) and El Bandidnos (El B) who she recently bought from Peter Monteith. Marylou is her dressage horse and El B wil be her show horse once he's been let down from racing and re-trained. Linda says he is just the nicest horse ever and we think she is going to have lots and lots of fun with him. Linda is also a well respected animal communicator and has worked with many of our members and their horses with great success.
SIOBHAN WHITE ENTERTAINMENT & SOCIAL EVENTS SHOWUMPING ORGANISER Siobhan owns an ex pointer Brooke and they love nothing more than to hack for miles and miles in the open countryside. Brooke came to Siobhan as 'dangerous' the sad result of all the best intentions of an inexperienced owner creating a very confused and scared horse. Siobhan took on Brooke and built up trust with her. Siobhan is a reiki master and this, coupled with her horse knowledge and endless patience, has turned Brooke into a very special little mare that adores her mum. They have a wonderful bond and it is so good to see a happy ending to what could have been a very sad story for Brooke.
HELEN MANNERS PLANNING COMMITTEE MEMBER Helen runs Manberry Stud with her partner Geoff Berry (our resident and superb amateur photographer) and they have given a home to some lovely ex racehorse mares who are now happily helping to maintain the high level breeding programme that Helen and Geoff run. They breed performance horses and I have spent many a lovely afternoon watching videos of beautiful stallions, potential 'fathers' for the foals. Mormond Lass (Emily) was Helen's main 'mount' but she is now in foal and we are all very excited to see what little bundle of joy she produces. Parisian Miss (Tara) won the in hand ex racehorse championship 2010. Tara became very ill just after they took her on, she had terrible ulcers that were causing chronic colic. She nearly died but Helen and Geoff nursed her back and she is now looking absolutely stunning. Tara is not in foal this year as they want to give her a good 12 months or so to make sure she is physically 110% before putting her in foal.
PAMELA TURNBULL PLANNING COMMITTEE MEMBER Pam owns ex racehorse Bodkin Boy (Eddie), he came from Susan Bradburne and Pam fell in love with his photo when he came up for rehoming through ScotNorth. Eddie is a wonderful laid back horse, most of the time! Show him a jump and he becomes very excited, he LOVES to jump. Pam does everything with him from long hacks to parades, showing and their main love in life - jumping.
GILLY FRASER MEDIA & PLANNING COMMITTEE MEMBER Many of you will know Gilly from Borders TV where she was a very popular news features presenter for many years. Gilly is now self employed with her own media business. Gilly owns 2 ex rachorses Barra Lad and Foxmeade Dancer. Her main love with both is showjumping, although she also does western riding too.
