ScotNorth 2010 Annual Championship Show

ScotNorth Championships 2010

Well my friends, we are ahead of the game this year and have already booked the date and venue for the 2010 Championship Show.  We are just putting the finishing touches to the final schedule and it will be available at the bottom of this page shortly, along with our in hand, ridden and veteran judging criteria.

We hope it will be even bigger and better than last year's.  We have changed the venue to one closer to the ''Border'' and it is quite fitting that the venue is located on the old Lanark Racecourse.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Scottish Equestrian Hotel on 26th September 2010 .

We have tried to make sure there is something for everyone, and a class for our forum members who do have horses but they are not ex racehorses.

As well as the annual showing classes, there are the 2010 Championship classes for in hand, ridden and ridden veteran - anyone placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd  in the relevant ScotNorth classes during 2010 or will be eligible to enter the overall Championship classes.

So, once again, get your boots and horses polished and we will see you all at Lanark on 26th September.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO QUALIFY FOR ALL CLASSES, ONLY THE CHAMPIONSHIP ONES.

The Venue

The venue is the prestigious Scottish Equestrian Centre sited on what was Lanark Racecourse. S tabling and 'human' accommodation is available and can be arranged directly with the Centre.

The centre will have on site catering on show day. For directions visit http://www.scottishequestrianhotel.com/

The facilities are superb and we have booked the main indoor arena for the show, and the outside arena for warm up facilities - we are aware that last year's warm up area was less than ideal!!

Eligibility to enter

Horses must be registered with the Scottish & Northern Ex Racehorse Club prior to entry.

As this is a show for amateur riders, professionally produced/ridden horses are not eligible to enter.

Horses placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any class on the day  are eligible to enter the relevant Championship Classes.

Horses placed 1st or 2nd through the day will come forward for the Supreme 2010 Champion and Reserve Champion Ex Racehorse.

Prizes

There are various prizes to be awarded and we will update the list as sponsors confirm their support.

And we must not forget the REAL stars of the day, our horses.  There will be a packet of polos awarded to every horse in every class :-)

 Sponsors

The main sponsor of the day is David Stevenson of Ashleybank Investments, to whom the club extends its thanks.

Also, our thanks to

- Hamilton park Racecourse, sponsoring the 2010 champion in hand, ridden and veteran classes.

The Supreme Trophy donated by Mervyn Beattie is truly stunning, solid Bronze, the size of a small dog and the weight of a small pony!!

For the Championship classes, 1st and 2nd will be awarded a Gold / Silver coloured medallion engraved with ScotNorth Championships 2009 on the back, as a memento of the day.

Horses will all be getting a packet of mints as I am sure they will like these better than rosettes :-)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

1.  I THOUGHT 1ST TO 3RD QUALIFIED FOR SCOTNORTH CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES?

Yes

2.  WILL THERE BE A GROUP CANTER IN THE NOVICE CLASS?

No - there will only be group walk and trot, but you can canter in your individual show.  There will be group canters in the other ridden classes though.

3.  CAN I ENTER ON THE DAY?

Yes you can but it will cost £2 extra - remember to bring your commentary sheet all filled in if you want the commentator to talk about your horse.

4.  DO I HAVE TO QUALIFY FOR THE NON CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES?

No, these classes are open to any ScotNorth registered horse.

5.  CAN I REGISTER MY HORSE ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW?

Sorry but this is not possible as we do checks against the Weatherby’s database and it will not be possible to do these at the show.  You can register up to 2 days before the show to ensure this is all done by the show date.
