Scottish & Northern Ex Racehorse Club, Showing Masterclass and Parade of ex racehorses at Thirlestane Horse trials 2008

We are very excited to be involved with the prestigious event at Thirlestane and thank the organisers for this great opportunity.

As you can see from the impressive line up above, this was a very difficult class with 15 impressive horses competing for the lovely trophy.  We apologise to the 18 others who could not enter as the class had reached its capacity.

LIKIT kindly sponsored the class and donated some lovely prizes.  Rosettes were to 10th place, with special rosettes to unplaced competitors - so nobody went home empty handed.  There was also a special rosette for the highest placed veteran ex racehorse in the class (aged over 14).

Peter Monteith kindly provided the winners perpetual trophy

CR Rosettes

We would like to thank CR Rosettes for the beautiful design of the rosettes for this event. They really are very special for such a fantastic venue and they reflect the high profile venue and effort members have made to travel to Thirlestane 2008.

50% of the profit from this class will be donated to an equine charity to be decided by a poll of members on the ScotNorth forum.

The showing master class 16th August

The Showing Master Class was judged by leading Borders trainer and jocky Clive Storey

I spoke to Clive after the class to see what he was looking for.  Everyone agreed he had a near impossible task to judge the 15 stunning horses and riders who came forward for the class.

Clive was looking for the horses to be forward going into the bridle, happy and relaxed in their work and looking like a TB should - not too fat and not too thin.

Clive said afterwards that all the horses looked fantastic and were turned out to an exceptionally high standard.  He and his partner Sandie were so happy to see so many ex racehorses out looking good and being ambassadors for all those who will need good homes in the future.
